The remake of Carl Sagan’s legendary Cosmos series from the early 1980s has finally landed! The first episode of the series, “Standing Up In The Milky Way” is a remarkable achievement, updating the fascinating ideas of the original film with the latest 3D visual effects technology (see the difference) and over 3 decades of quantum leaps in our understanding of physics and cosmology.

The new host is Neil Degrasse Tyson, who is probably the only person in astronomy as fascinating as Carl Sagan was himself. He will take you on a ride on a ship of the imagination, free of the shackles of space and time, so you can explore the absolutely amazing Cosmos that we are so fortunate to inhabit. And so it begins…
“To make this journey we will need imagination. But imagination alone is not enough because the reality of nature is far more wondrous than anything we can imagination. This adventure is made possible by generations of searchers strictly adhering to a simple set of rules: test ideas by experiment and observation. Build on those ideas that pass the test. Reject the ones that fail. Follow the evidence wherever it leads and question everything.”
